.) Knowledge is power- Do your homework! Before making a purchase, investigate brands that contain and are free of parabens. That way, you can make a more informed decision.
.) Speak up! Some brands don’t disclose the ingredients to the consumer unless asked. So next time you are at the cosmetics counter, ask the sales associate for a list of the ingredients of the product you are purchasing.
.) All that glitters isn’t gold-Organic and all-natural may appeal to you when making a purchase because you think you are getting the best all-natural product. However, this does not necessarily mean paraben-free.
.) Check your product labels for these terms: Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylparaben, Benzyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid, Methyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid, Ethyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid, Propyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid, Butyl-parahydroxybenzoic acid, Parahydroxybenzoic acid and Parahydroxybenzoate. They are all forms of parabens. (Credit, Ehow.com contributor)
.) A few brands of makeup that are paraben-free-Jane Iredale (I love this brand!), Tarte, Physicians Formula, Cargo, LORAC, and Smashbox.
